High Point wildlife control tip of the month:

How to keep raccoons out of my bird feeder

Have you ever discovered who is eating the bird feeder, why it is always empty or laying on the ground in pieces? You must keep the raccoons out of the bird feeder, but how can you do that? There are simple High Point exterminator ways to get them out of the feeder.

First, you must understand what these creatures are and what they are capable of. Raccoons are said to be linked to panda bear. Even if they are considered High Point animal trapping pests, they are not rodents. They are nocturnal animals which means that they look for food at night time and sleep in their hubs at day time. At this time to the late spring time and for the rest of the summer time, these little beings are fast moving and they will eat whatever is available for them while they are awake. They usually build thick layers of fat in their body in preparation of the winter months, this is their way of hibernating. On the other hand, High Point wildlife removal raccoons do not hibernate. If the winter reaches more than 28 degrees to 30 degrees, they will come out and look for food.

Raccoons are persistent enemies and they steal food from the garbage, garden and bird feeders. With their mask around the eyes, they are often cautious that you will compare them to a masked High Point pest control bandit. Because they have a night vision and their sense of hearing and touch are also good, they can handle things and they can also manipulate them the way humans would. Raccoons can easily unscrew and unhook things just like what you can do, so the feeder hanging within their reach can easily be a target. They can even reach the pole mounted bird feeder, so they are not safe just what you thought of. Raccoons are good climbers as well and they can reach the pile that is bigger than 1.4 inches in size and they have no doubts when it is about time to jump from high poles or trees as much as 40 feet in the air.

So, how can you deter a creature that is as smart and skilled as raccoons? First, use a squirrel baffle for the pole mount. If the feeder is pole mounted baffle it at least 4 feet above the ground. They will not be able to climb up the High Point animal control pole anymore for the feeder. Bear in mind that poles that are linked to the trees with hanging branches and nearby the rooftops can still be a perfect access to them even with a baffle.
